Web Hosting and Design

Bluehost: I have used many hosting services in the past but if you are using WordPress, I found this to be the easiest and least expensive. Bluehost is one of the leading web hosts on the Internet, and they offer 24/7 customer service. They also help you register a domain, install WordPress, and you can get set up in minutes.

WordPress: This is the free blogging software that I use and recommend. It’s the best. This link will take you to the Bluehost page where you can get a self-hosted blog set up. They have great themes to choose from. Some are free and some cost. My theme is Olsen and it was free.

Purpose

The Art of Work: A Proven Path to Discovering What You Were Meant to Do This book was my introduction to Jeff Goins. After this, I consumed everything I could by him. He is living what he writes. He introduced me to Author, Kary Oberburnner as well which has opened many new doors.

Deeper Path: Five Steps That Let Your Hurts Lead to Your Healing One of Kary Oberbrunner’s books that I really sank my teeth into. I also enjoyed Your Secret Name, Called and Day Job To Dream Job. Kary knows what he is doing. Not only writing but in book launches and platform building. I was blessed to be part of his launch team for Elixir Project; His first fiction book about becoming unhackable. Kary has several great courses as well. Links are listed below.

Marketing:

ConvertKit: Email marketing tool. I love all this has to offer! It made things so much easier to keep track off and to communicate with segments of my subscribers. Worth the money for the peace of mind that this simplicity and video tutorials give you. Easy to follow from set up to sending your emails! Love it!

Mailchimp:  I started with this but changed over after two weeks. It was easy to use and free for the first 2000 subscribers but didn’t serve all my needs. Here is a great blog post that might help you understand why I switched.

Paypal: Basically an online bank account that makes it easy for you to receive payments.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World This author knows a thing or two about publishing and getting heard in a noisy world. Great information especially for anyone new to platform building.

Publishing:

Here is a great webinar on why I am self-publishing and the differences between traditional publishing and self-publishing. I’ve known I was going to self-publish for a while. This confirmed it!

My Book Hook Free 7 day video training that will have you thinking like an author and on to your killer book idea.

Tech Tools:

This cooling pad is a must have for anyone on their laptop for an extended period of time. Why did I wait so long! Not only does it keep your laptop from overheating but this model elevates your screen for easier viewing. It is adjustable to your comfort level. It’s quite and best of all, really works. I have noticed my computer speed is better when I am using it as well!

This microphone is great for recording professional sound during videos or audio recording for embedding.

A remote control tripod that holds your phone for recording videos. The Bluetooth remote allows you to stop and start your video with you already in position for a more professional look.

Apps I love:

Evernote: Think of it as a file folder for your thoughts! It syncs to your phone and laptop. You can record your thoughts on your phone, then open your laptop and continue working! Set up files by the project including reminders. Amazing tool for any business!

Hootsuite: Saves time posting to multiple social media accounts. You can schedule your posts in advance and on multiple streams at once.

Grammarly: Edits as you type on your laptop…not just in a word document but any text! No more embarrassing Facebook posts with misspellings or using the wrong homophones! Keep your blog looking professional without hiring an editor!
